Getting started with NEXAGEN Skills
NEXAGEN Skills do not replace the NEXAGEN MCP. The MCP lets your AI app call NEXAGEN features (tools); NEXAGEN Skills tell the AI which features to use, in what order, and where to stop.
Step 1 — Connect the NEXAGEN MCP
- In your AI app, add a remote MCP server (connector). Use the server address from NEXAGEN's official MCP connection guide.
- Sign in with your NEXAGEN account (OAuth) and allow the requested permissions.
- Check: ask "Tell me my NEXAGEN credits and available features." If the AI answers using
get_accountandget_mcp_policy, you are connected.
Each install guide explains the MCP connection for that platform.
Step 2 — Install NEXAGEN Skills
| Platform | Guide |
|---|---|
| Claude (claude.ai, Desktop, Claude Code) | install/claude.md |
| Cursor | install/cursor.md |
| OpenAI Codex | install/codex.md |
| ChatGPT | install/openai.md |
| Other AI apps | install/generic.md |
Most users should install the Complete Pack (nexagen-skills-complete-1.2.0.zip), which contains all Skills and the shared policies.
Step 3 — Ask in natural language
Examples:
- "Continue the work in this workspace." -> the state is read first (nothing is generated).
- "Create an image of a cat on a neon street on a rainy night." -> the engine and per-image credits are shown, then it generates after you confirm.
- "Only make the storyboard for the ad." -> it stops at the storyboard.
Credits
Credits are charged to your NEXAGEN account. NEXAGEN Skills are designed to avoid unnecessary generation.
- Before paid generation you are told what and how many will be made and the cost basis, and asked to confirm.
- A slow response never causes a resubmission; the existing job is checked first.
- Failed paid jobs are never retried automatically.
